The Wheatley Omstead Sharks opened the 2025-26 season on a winning note Wednesday evening at the Wheatley Area Arena.The final score showed Sharks 8 and the visiting Mooretown Flags 2.
The Sharks opened the scoring midway through the first period on a powerplay goal by newcomer Ryan Basile,which was replied by the Flags three minutes later. The Sharks then rattled off six straight building up an insurmountable 7-1 lead before Mooretown scored their second of the evening on Adam Flanagan, who stood solid in the nets for Wheatley stopping 32 of 34 shots fired his way.
Wheatley goals were scored by eight different players.Joining Basile scoring were Josh Chauvin,Colton Selwood,Carson Murracus,Xander Zanier,Kyle Bleau,Vito Alfano and Brendan Gouin.
