Assistant Coach - Paul Gossman
Goose, as he is known around Leamington & Wheatley, had a very successful playing career through the 90s, including multiple OMHA & OHF Championships during his minor hockey days in Southpoint, while also winning a Schmalz Cup Championship with the Belle River Canadiens of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League.
Goose also was drafted by the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL, and played for the Sharks as a 16 yr old in 1997-98 season. Unfortunately, an injury sidelined him the following year, and mid year he joined the Belle River Canadiens blueline. After winning a Schmalz Cup, he headed up north to play Jr. A hockey in Thunder Bay of the SIJHL. When his playing days were over, Goose began his coaching career by becoming the Defense coach for his Thunder Bay Jr A team.
Returning home to raise a family, Goose worked tirelessly with local minor hockey programs in Southpoint at various age groups. Most recently guiding the blueline for the Midget Major group in 2016-17, helping lead them to a Bluewater Championship.
The Sharks are extremely excited to have Goose guiding the blueline, his knowledgebase, and communication skills will complement the staff currently assembled.
Goalie Coach - Marc Tremblay
Marc Tremblay returns to the new Wheatley Omstead Sharks for his 3rd full season as the Goalie Coach and as you will see he brings many years as a Goalie and Coach to the team and as they say being a Goalie is not an easy job and who not better to assist them then a former one!
Marc began his playing career in Tilbury in their Minor Hockey System before going to the AAA Chatham Cyclones in his Midget Major year and after one successful season was asked to join the Wheatley Sharks in 2008 and finished his very successful Junior career with them in 2013 and would be ranked as one of the best goalies in the Junior C League year after year. Marc believes a goalie can only be successful if you have a great bunch of players in front of you and feels very fortunate to have played with many.
When Marc retired from Junior hockey as a Shark he was then asked to come back as the Goalie Coach as he understood what it takes to succeed and also the mental side of being a goalie. The Sharks felt they needed a veteran and former Goalie to assist the young ones coming out of the miner hockey system as Marc understood what it takes to excel and also what the organization would be looking for to fill his shoes. Marc has also coached in the Southpoint Minor Hockey Association, Sun County AAA System, Belle River Minor Hockey System and the Essex Minor Hockey System.
The Sharks are thrilled to have Marc returning this season and are counting on him to assist with producing a couple great goalies to get the Sharks to the Championship in the end.
