Sharks Show Grit in Essex

The Wheatley Omstead Sharks had built a 2-0 lead through two periods only to see it dissolve in a flurry of activity in the third period. The visitors from Wheatley had built up a 2-0 lead trying to spoil Homecoming Night with tallys by Braydin Metcalfe and former 73 Ethan Hamelin. The score stayed that way until the third when Essex scored an early tally then Essex’s Nate Dowling scored on a penalty shot with only 39 seconds left in the game.But only 37 seconds into overtime Braedon Caetano scored the winner with hard work and skill bringing the Wheatley bench and fans into a relieving frency!!
Goaltender Ethan Handley was spectacular between the pipes for the Omstead Sharks facing 40 shots on the night. It was a fine team effort in the victory over-all. Wheatley will have to recoup quickly as they face the Mooretown Flags Saturday in Mooretown, 7:30 pm start!!
