The Wheatley Omstead Sharks travelled to Walpole Island Saturday afternoon and obtained an important two points in a 8-5 victory over the home team. The first period ended in a two all tie. AP Jaxon Turnbull (2) and Vito Alfano(18) scored for Wheatley. The Sharks took control of the game in the second period with tallies from Stefan Jacobs (20),Seth Zylstra (3), Alfano(19) and rookie Colton Selwood (3). In the third period Jacobs(21) and Josh Chauvin (18) rounded out the scoring.
The two points enabled the Sharks to remain a pair of points ahead of the Amherstburg Admirals who handed the Essex 73’s their third loss of the season with a thrilling 3-2 victory via the shootout Saturday evening. The Burg does hold two games in hand over the Sharks.
Next action for Wheatley is Wednesday January 29th when they play host to the Essex 73’s, Game time 7:30pm
