The Essex 73’s came to town for their inaugural contest of the year. The much **hyped** team of the PJHL found out the Omstead Sharks are going to be no easy push over for the 2024-2025 season.
The final score was 4-1 SX but the boys from Wheatley gave them quite a battle from start to finish. It was an Essex goal at the 19:59 mark of the second period that slowed up any chance of a comeback. The tally made it 2-0 at the time.
Cooper Crowe was stellar in the Wheatley net making 44 saves. Scoring for the home team was newcomer, Darian Dufour, who toiled for the Kirkland Lake Goldminers last season.
